Why Hæ?

Hæ means hi in Icelandic

It sounds just like the English “hi”. It’s what we’ll say when we meet you at the start of the tour.

Included with our food tours

Local Walk: our city map in your phone

Local Walk is a self-guided web app with our favourite places in Reykjavík on one map. Access is included with the Food Tour and the Private Food Tour.

  • Places we like for food, culture and swimming, each with a short tip.
  • Works in your phone’s browser, so there’s nothing to install.
  • Not joining a food tour? Local Walk passes will also be sold on their own.

Questions before you book

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel at least 24 hours before the start (Iceland time) and you get a full refund or a free move to another date. Within 24 hours, or if you don’t show up, we can’t refund. Booked through another site? Their policy applies.

Can you handle allergies and special diets?

Vegetarian, or avoiding gluten or lactose? Tell us when you book so we can check alternatives with the venues. Two of the traditional Icelandic tastings can’t be swapped for an alternative, but everything else can. If you’re vegan or have a severe allergy, please contact us before booking. The food comes from independent kitchens, so we can’t promise anything is completely allergen-free.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We walk in most weather, so dress warm with waterproof layers and good shoes. If conditions make the tour unsafe, we cancel and you choose a full refund or a new date.

How much walking is it?

On the food tour, about 3 to 4 km at an easy pace over roughly three hours, with plenty of stops. The walking tour is about 2 to 3 km over two hours. Tell us before booking if you have reduced mobility and we’ll see what we can do.
